EDT logbook with all 12 lessons signed off
Test appointment confirmation
The car
L-plates displayed front and rear
Tax, insurance and NCT discs on the windscreen and in date
Car roadworthy: no warning lights, tyres legal, lights working
Windows, mirrors and lights clean
Enough fuel for the test
Technical checks (you'll be asked about some)
Tyres: tread depth (at least 1.6 mm) and pressure
Engine oil: dipstick between min and max
Coolant level
Brake fluid level
Windscreen washer fluid
Power steering fluid (if fitted)
Lights, indicators and brake lights — know how to check them
Horn
Secondary controls
Wipers and washers
Demisters front and rear, and air vents
Dipped and main beam, fog lights
Hazard warning lights
Hand signals
Turning right / moving out
Turning left / moving in
Slowing down or stopping
