Approaching a junction too fast

Usually Grade 2 — more serious

Arriving at a turn too fast means late braking and a wide, unsteady turn. Examiners want you in the right gear at the right speed.

✕ The fault

Too fast into the turn!

✓ The right way

Brake early, in a straight line.

How to get it right

  1. 1Mirrors, signal, then brake early in a straight line.
  2. 2Select second gear for most turns.
  3. 3Turn at a walking-to-jogging pace.
