Driving too close to the centre line
Usually Grade 2 — more seriousHugging the centre line puts you too close to oncoming traffic. Examiners expect a normal driving position in the middle of your lane.
✕ The fault
The learner drifts right, onto the centre line…
✓ The right way
Centre of the lane, eyes up the road.
How to get it right
- 1Look well ahead, not at the bonnet — the car follows your eyes.
- 2Aim to be in the centre of your lane, about a metre from the kerb.
- 3Keep left more on bends and when traffic is oncoming.
